The magic is in the consistency
My father first threatened to put me on a diet when I was 4.
He misread my family doctor’s prideful comment —“She’s a big, healthy girl!”—as a warning instead of a celebration. In my father’s eyes, being heavier made me less “marriageable,” and for much of my life, my worth felt tied to the number on the scale. My mother weighed under 100 lbs my entire life and I’ve struggled with body image and guilt around food — working through these things has been a huge part of my healing journey.
Now, at 55, I’ve found more peace with my body and what I eat than ever before. My personal “magic combination” includes:
-
Embracing the endorphin rush of a good workout instead of body shame
-
Preparing most of my meals with high-quality, nutritious ingredients
-
Never denying myself anything, but listening when my body says, “I’m full”
It’s been a long journey—years of trial and error, chasing the “perfect” diet or workout plan. But ultimately, it came down to self-love and trusting my own body’s signals. (Funny how that’s the answer to almost everything in life!)
It’s no coincidence that I ended up creating products that encourage mindful eating—like our lunch accessories. Packing meals is a practical way to nurture freedom around food and to practice self-love on a daily basis.
This year, I’m doubling down on that message. In 2025, I’ll be sharing the wisdom, tools, and habits that have helped me forge a healthier relationship with food and my body—so you can feel more confident, too. Let’s support each other in this journey!
Here’s to starting the new year with a commitment to loving ourselves and celebrating who we are, one step at a time.
With love and gratitude,
Catherine
